Microsoft co-founder Paul Allen dies of cancer at age of 65

Bill Gates has been left heartbroken following the demise of his childhood friend and first ever business partner Paul Allen. He died of complications related to non-Hodgkin’s lymphoma in Seattle at the age of 65. Earlier this month, we all received heart wrenching reports that Paul Allen was battling with non-Hodgkin’s lymphoma and was receiving treatment for the second time in his life after it went into remission.
He already left the company he helped started (Microsoft) in 1975, but had maintained his position as a member of the board. At the initial stage of the company, Allen was a major driving force behind the company as he had always been a genius with computers.

Bill Gates wrote: “I met Paul when I was in 7th grade, and it changed my life for good,” Gates also wrote. “I looked up to him straight away. He was two years ahead of me in school, really tall, and proved to be a genius with computers. (Later, he also had a very cool beard, which I could never pull off.)”

Initially, Bill Gates had been a college student but Paul Allen convinced him to dump his college education. That’s how he started work on Microsoft, something that will better the future of mankind.

Microsoft would never have existed without Paul. By December 1974, we were both living in the Boston area—he was working, and I was going to college. One day he came and got me, insisting that I rush over to a nearby newsstand with him. When we arrived, he showed me the cover of the January issue of Popular Electronics. It featured a new computer called the Altair 8800, which ran on a powerful new chip. Paul looked at me and said: “This is happening without us!” That moment marked the end of my college career and the beginning of our new company, Microsoft. It happened because of Paul.
After he left Microsoft he has been a pillar in Seattle helping lives through philantropy and owning an NFL team.  , Gates said, in a statement to   ABC News “I am really heartbroken with the loss of one of my oldest and dearest friends.” He went on to praise his fellow co-founder for his contribution to Microsoft and the role he played in “improving people’s lives and strengthening communities in Seattle.” There is no doubt in my heart that he will greatly be missed by everyone including us at Netbado.com
